Why it's useful

Often you don't need to “just compress” a photo, you need it under a specific limit: an upload form that says “max 200 KB”, a job-site resume, an application attachment. Ordinary compressors use a quality slider, so you guess and re-save. Here you set the goal and the tool hits it.

The algorithm tunes JPEG quality to the target size, and if it can't fit even at low quality it carefully reduces the resolution. Everything runs in the browser: the photo is never uploaded, which matters for documents and personal pictures.
